An unrecognised school is that which is not recognised but running regular classes on the pattern of recognised school. This does not include coaching centres. The data refers to the statewise enrolment of unrecognized schools having primary and upper primary classes in Rural Area and enrolled in them at primary and upper primary stage at all India level in all the 35 states.
The data refers to the number of teachers in position in Rural/Urban/Total area in all the 35 states in Primary and Upper Primary Schools. It also gives the number of schools having female teachers in primary and upper primary schools.
A habitation is a distinct cluster of houses existing in a compact and contiguous manner, with a local name and its population should not be less than 25 in plain area, and not less than 10 in hilly/dessert/sparsely populated areas. In case there exists more than one such cluster of houses in a village, they will not be treated as separate habitations unless the convenient walking distance between them is more than 200 mts.
School Education includes (i) Pre-school Education and (ii) 12 years of School Education and its equivalent. Institutions recognized/approved by a competent authority e.g., Central/State Government or other authorized agencies, e.g., Boards of Secondary Education, UGC, AICTE, MCI, ICAR, Directorates of Education or other duly empowered authority.
Technical /industrial /arts and craft institutes are ITI/ITCs, Education guarntee Scheme (EGS) and alternative & Innovative Education with capacity of enrolled students.
A trained teacher is one who has successfully undergone a course of training through a recognised teacher training institution.
A teacher is a person who is directly engaged in instructing a group of students. Head of the institution is counted as teacher. The research guiding staff, demonstrators, tutors and Directors of Physical Education & Physical Training Instructors will also be shown as teachers. Teachers registered as research scholars will be shown as teachers. However, research students doing teaching work will not be treated as teachers. Similarly, laboratory attendants, library clerks, game instructors, etc. who do not participate in teaching will not be treated as teachers.
Gross enrolment ratio (GER): Total enrolment in a specific level of education, regardless of age, expressed as a percentage of the eligible official school-age population corresponding to the same level of education in a given school-year. School-age Population: Population of the age group which officially corresponds to the relevant level of education.
