Total of newborns (live births) reported at Sub-Centre, Community Health Centre, Primary Health Centre, District Hospital, Sub-divisional Hospital and have been breastfed within 1st hour of delivery during the reporting month. Data Source for this data element is Delivery Register.
The Sub Divisional and District Hospitals are government hospitals with more than 30 beds. Mobile Medical Units have been envisaged under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to provide preventive, promotive and curative health care in inaccessible areas and difficult terrains, which are underserved or unserved areas under usual circumstances. Functional Mobile Medical Units not only look after the curative aspects but also render Behaviour Change Communication (BCC) activities to promote healthy under the NRHM.
Family Planning methods regulate the number and spacing of children in a family through use of contraceptives or other methods of birth control. The sterilization is one of method also known as terminal method to regulate the family size preferably after two or three children. The sterilization methods adopted by the eligible couples in all facilities, (SCs, PHCs, CHCs), sub-divisional hospitals, districts hospitals etc. are recorded / uploaded in the Health Management Information System (Portal) by all the States / UTs.
The another spacing method is use of Oral Pill Cycles distributed at the district hospitals, sub-divisional hospitals and community health centres to the beneficiaries under free distribution scheme and also sold by companies under social marketing scheme are recorded and reported in the Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) portal by States/UTs. The equivalent oral pill users are calculated by dividing total number of oral pill cycles (packets) by thirteen.
The IUD Insertions is one of the spacing method adopted by the women to space the birth of children. The IUD Insertions done at the District Hospitals, Sub-divisional Hospitals and Community Health Centres during the reporting month are reported in the HMIS portal by all the States / UTs.
The another simple spacing method is use of condoms distributed at the district hospitals, sub-divisional hospital and community health centres to the beneficiaries under free distribution scheme and also sold by companies under social marketing scheme are recorded and reported in the Health Management Information System (HMIS) portal by States/UTs. The equivalent condoms users are calculated by dividing total number of condom distribution by seventy two during the year.
