With the objective of creating a reliable database of water bodies for effective planning and policy making, Department of Water Resources, RD & GR, Ministry of Jal Shakti conducted the first census of water bodies in convergence with the 6th Minor Irrigation census with reference year 2017-18 through nodal departments identified in each State /UT for this purpose.
