The ratio of Female Teachers to Male Teachers provides a gender profile of the faculty engaged in Elementary Education and in the States where the proportion of Female Teacher is higher school retention rates tends to be higher and early primary drop outs very less.
Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) Centers : Alternative schools in unserved habitations where there is no formal school within the radius of 1 kilometer and at least 15-25 children of 6-14 years age group who are not going to schools are available. Alternative and Innovative Education (AIE) Centers. The centers set up for very specific, difficult groups of ‘out of school’ children for mainstreaming or otherwise, under the AIE component of the EGS&AIE scheme, are termed as Alternative & Innovative Education Centers.

Budgeted expenditure (revenue account) on education contains Total budget (centre / states)(Revenue account), Expenditure (Revenue account) on education & training by education and other departments, per capita expenditure.

Examination means the test of a students knowledge in prescribed subjects. Various Examination Boards have been established in the country for holding and conducting an examination at the end of Class XII, the Senior Secondary School stage. These boards also prescribe conditions of examinations including course of studies for such examination. Normally every year these Boards conduct Annual Examination in the month of February/March. Some of the Boards also conduct Supplementary Examination in the month of August/September on the basis of course/ syllabus as prescribed by the Government.
