Mangroves are salt tolerant evergreen forest ecosystems found mainly in tropical and subtropical costal and/or intertidal regions. A mangrove cover is defined as area covered under mangrove vegetation as interpreted from remote sensing data. It is included in the forest cover. The data refers to Mangrove Assessment and Mangrove Cover w.r.t. Total Geographic Area of the country .The data also specifies area in sq km for each type Very Dense Mangroves, Moderately Dense and Open Dense Mangroves.
